Research University Press · Collection standards

Scale the infrastructure.
Keep the evidence close.

A university collection organizes scholarship; it does not acquire the source institution's name, journal authority or authorship. Original scholarship, licensed republication and interactive software remain distinct scholarly objects.

Current source coverage

22 newly assessed source records; 20 preserved resources with source-search agents; 2 source-linked records. Stanford has not been exhausted. Searches covered its Digital Repository, education resources, philanthropy resources, computational law and selected research pages. SearchWorks automated discovery returned a request-rejection page, so it is not counted as a completed repository scan.

tracked APA, open research, SSRN and Stanford OJS catalogs; DOI, source-version DOI, normalized title and source-file SHA-256. Private prior review queues and arbitrary bucket objects not available to this static importer; complete novelty not claimed.

An independently curated Research University Press collection of Stanford-hosted sources. This collection does not assert Stanford University ownership, sponsorship, endorsement or transfer of source publishing authority.

Admission standards for every source

  1. Identify the exact work and version. Retain all credited authors, institutional affiliations, source journal, dates and identifiers. Resolve conflicts against the original file before release.
  2. Verify a reusable article-level CC BY, CC BY-SA or CC0 grant. Free access, open metadata and a data-only waiver do not license an article. Conflicting, NC/ND or missing rights remain source linked.
  3. Deduplicate by DOI, source-version DOI, normalized title and file hash. Preserve one canonical source identity even when a work appears in multiple topical collections.
  4. Preserve original files and hashes. Extract text separately, disclose coverage and enable an agent only after source identity and integrity checks pass. Passage agents retrieve source wording; they do not independently validate research claims.
  5. Check source notices, corrections and retractions before scholarly endorsement. A repository resource with unresolved notice status is identified as such. Deposit does not establish peer review.
  6. Register a first DOI only after identity searches, complete metadata and the responsible publisher's authority are established through an authorized registration account. Retain existing source DOIs. A hosted copy or agent does not create a new original article.

Crossref guidance: transferring responsibility and preserving existing DOIs.

Programme toward April 1, 2027

These are development and institutional priorities, not claims that partnerships, registrations or independent assessments have occurred.

October 2026

Establish a trustworthy foundation

Source-level rights and author reconciliation; distinct source and hosting dates; public versions, citations, corrections contact and evidence registers. Finish the Stanford source inventory in bounded, audited batches.

November 2026

Strengthen editorial and preservation operations

Document qualified independent handling editors, reviewer decisions and conflicts. Verify accessibility, downloadable originals, backup restoration and correction/retraction intake before asserting compliance.

December 2026 – January 2027

Expand through institutional agreements

Invite repository and press partners only after an approved outreach plan. Obtain publishing and DOI authority, preservation arrangements and source update feeds. Pilot additional university collections using the same identifiers and provenance model.

February – March 2027

Measure quality and reliability

Review attribution completeness, source-agent retrieval accuracy, rights exceptions, accessibility, broken sources and correction response times. Commission independent scholarly and technical evaluation.

April 1, 2027

Publish an accountable progress assessment

Report the actual editorial board, publication and review records, preservation tests, usage and independent assessments. Prestige is earned through research quality and community judgment; it cannot be guaranteed by a launch date.
