The Agentic Scholarly Record is an open companion profile for scholarship with an interactive research agent. It binds the agent to the article's canonical DOI, exact version, editorial history, rights, evidence, evaluations and preservation status—without replacing the DOI or the human scholarly record.

A review of the publicly indexed web found no other independently verifiable peer-reviewed journal system built and hosted with ChatGPT Sites. JournalOS therefore uses the narrow, auditable description “the first publicly documented ChatGPT Sites-hosted agent-native journal platform”—not the unverifiable claim that no private, unindexed or undisclosed system exists.

DOI infrastructure already supplies globally recognized persistent identity. JournalOS adds what an agent-native article needs: a portable, inspectable representation of the source, decisions, permissions, model boundary and preservation state.

Canonical article
JATS XML, accessible HTML, PDF, contributor metadata, disclosures and references describe the same versioned work.

Inspectable manifest
Rights, editorial history, source hashes, model identity, retrieval scope, evaluations, limitations and update status travel together.

Bounded article agent
The agent answers from the locked source, cites exact evidence and refuses questions the record cannot support.
DOI integrity rules

Original publication
A DOI is displayed only after registration through an authorized Registration Agency. Each DOI resolves to one maintained, work-specific landing page.
Licensed republication
A Creative Commons mirror retains the source DOI, canonical URL, authorship and exact license. Adding an agent does not manufacture a second article DOI.
Agent relationship
The agent manifest receives a resolvable URI and content hashes, then declares its relationship to the DOI and article version.
Updates
Corrections, expressions of concern, retractions and agent refreshes remain visible, dated and linked across every representation.
Portable by design
The agent can change. The accountability cannot.
Every implementation must expose the same minimum evidence, regardless of model provider, journal platform or commercial relationship.

JournalOS invites open publishing platforms, identifier stewards, standards bodies, libraries, societies and journals to establish a neutral working group for agent-native scholarly records. Participants retain their systems, brands, policies and editorial authority.
The shared work is deliberately narrow: agree on a portable manifest, validate it on real articles, publish compatibility tests and pursue community standardization through recognized infrastructure.
