SOURCE//PUBLIC / Editorial charter
Evidence before exhaustiveness.
Scope
Federally funded and federally developed software, including grants, contracts and intramural work. Community platforms are discovery infrastructure, not automatically federally funded collections.
Article forms
Software research articles; funding-to-code evidence maps; reproducibility reports; repository evaluations; preservation case studies; maintenance studies; and editorial field guides. Submit through the existing JournalOS author workflow.
Funding evidence
A software record requires an explicit funding acknowledgment or an authoritative link between an award and that software. Funding unknown is an acceptable result. Association with a federal researcher or registry alone is insufficient.
Minimum software record
Canonical repository, exact version, date, developers, funder, award number, evidence URL, license, dependencies, documentation, persistent identifier when available, maintenance state and verification date. Missing fields stay missing.
Review and conflicts
Authored research follows the existing independent human editorial and peer-review workflow. Editors disclose authorship and institutional interests; editor-authored research requires independent handling. The founding atlas and field guides are editorial resources with no recorded peer review.
Rights and preservation
Link to source repositories and preserve original attribution. Do not infer public-domain status from federal funding. Reproduce code or full text only under documented permissions. Software licenses, article licenses and dataset permissions are separate.
Corrections and versions
Atlas updates must record the changed field, evidence and date in source history. Substantive article corrections require a dated notice. Withdrawn links remain documented where appropriate. No ongoing automatic monitoring is claimed.
Governance and disclosure
Publisher: The Research University. Chief Editor: Dr. Freedom Cheteni. Independent journal within the existing Stanford Designership Press collection, without an assertion of Stanford affiliation. AI-assisted launch drafting and source organization: ChatGPT. No ISSN, DOI, indexing status or peer-review certification is asserted.
Coverage statement
Launch sources were researched October 29, 2026. This is a bounded discovery atlas, not a complete inventory of software or a live endpoint audit. Completeness requires systematic award harvesting, recipient tracing and record-level verification.
