What makes a supportive policy feel safe to use in this workplace?
Examines how culture, awareness, counseling, space and coworker support enable or block breastfeeding policy implementation in real workplaces.
Study context
Interviews at 14 Mexican workplaces with 49 potential beneficiaries, 41 male employees and 21 managers or HR staff.
Age / stage: Adult workers and managers around maternity and breastfeeding.
Read with three questions
- Which contextual factors helped or hindered a breastfeeding-friendly environment?
- How did male employees, beneficiaries and management views contribute?
- What does the context–mechanism–outcome framework explain without providing a causal effect size?
Keep the limits in view
Qualitative realist analysis identifies plausible mechanisms and contextual differences, not prevalence or a quantified intervention effect across all employers.
