Influence of Misinformation in the Media on Riots and Hate Crimes

Public project summary

There is a problem with the rapid spread of false information and the riling up of extremists through the media of Facebook groups and Facebook lives. Despite the benefits of Facebook, the spread of hateful videos is ongoing. This problem has negatively affected those targeted in the videos because of the threats and hate they receive. A possible cause of this problem is the ease of video access and an extreme need for fact-checking. A study on the influence of these groups could help remedy the problem.
